How To Build Entrepreneurial Mindset and Conquer Your Limiting Perceptions!
How can you develop a business mindset and conquer your self-limiting beliefs when you are tasked with the pivotal role of being an entrepreneurial parent?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the prospect of being an entrepreneurial parent? Maybe you compare yourself to other successful online entrepreneurs or think, “How do they manage to show up daily, deliver quality content, know so much about business marketing ?” or the ever-popular, “When will I find my sweet spot, my secret sauce my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Maybe you’ve felt one or all of the things I just mentioned. Well, dear friend, if you’re an entrepreneur parent or an aspiring one, it’s not uncommon to battle with these self-limiting feelings.
If you dig deeper, all entrepreneurs go through cycles of abundance and scarcity in their businesses. I have come to accept that life is filled with challenges that make us stronger.
I have also come to accept that the biggest battle is in the head. Overcoming the mental traps, those limiting ideologies that constantly shore up in the mind.Starts with surrounding yourself with people and content that builds you up.
If this, is you, I want to let you know that things get better with time? I want to share some of the business mindsets that has significantly helped me to overcome these mindsets in my many years of being an entrepreneur.
I have learnt to pursue practical knowledge on how to build an online business, from like minded business owners.
I am intentional to hearken from people like me (parents who stay at home to look after the children and at the same time desire to own a business). If they can build and grow a business whilst still being the primary care giver then, just maybe I too can do the same thing. You know the old saying, ‘success leaves clues’.
Making that first sale in your online business is a monumental psychological hurdle. I think the challenge we face are very different from other parents who own businesses. We have chosen to spend more time with our children, and often this means that we have left behind a steady pay check and are operating out of our comfort zone.
Society undervalues our contribution to the economy. I mean, you have a wealth of knowledge and experience from your previous life in whatever capacity you served. This article will give you a more profound prescriptive advice and insight into how you can develop your business mindset and overcome your limiting perceptions.
1. Accepting Your Current Life Map as The First Step in Conquering Your Self-Limits
You have to take responsibility for your life and the decisions you have made (good or bad) to make progress of any sort in your life. I am not sure if you have ever looked in the mirror and said to yourself, ‘Mary Lou Martin, you are responsible for the person that you are today, the feeling that you embrace today and the limits you place on your life,’. If you have, then you are well on your way to accomplishing your goals.
My path into entrepreneurship started a decade ago when I accepted that as a family, we were going to move to different countries every couple of years. I also had to accede that I had to give up my job (inconvenient) to be the one stable factor in the children’s life. I can tell you that over the years ,I have and still do belong to numerous WhatsApp parents’ groups in, Sao Paulo, the Middle East, England, and Europe .
However, I knew that I needed a transportable business given that we moved countries every couple of years. What I didn’t realise was that this would lead me to something greater than I had set out to achieve.
I have an online business now, but my entrepreneurial mindset has lead me to start thinking about investing in the stock market , look at ways of creating multiple streams of income, and other online platforms that helped grow my audience.
Like many other online business aspirants, I had immobilizing fear around publishing my content online (It took me years to publish Hippos to Horses Marketing blog to the world) .When I first started my business, I worried that I’d be judged and not measure up to a standard that I had set up in my head.
I questioned myself and even wondered, “Why would anyone want to hear what I have to say or write?” Maybe you can relate to these self- limiting thoughts? I know that I felt that way often when I was first starting out.
Here is the thing, I listen and follow Dean, a multimillionaire who has a heart of Gold. I bought one of his courses that opened up my eyes to the world of selling digital products. I leaned into something Dean said, “There will always be somebody in the room who wants to know what you know and wants to learn from you. So, serve those people.” I firmly stand by that belief as well.
2. Acknowledging Your Wealth of Knowledge and Experience Shatters Your Mental Traps.
You develop your entrepreneurial mindset when you acknowledge your worth.
You had the phrase, ‘I turned my mess into a message.’ everybody has a space in this world and a story that can help to transform someone else life. Many entrepreneurs have taken their own life experiences and turned them into successful businesses by sharing their own stories.
One of my guilty pleasures is listening to interviews of people who share their true stories. For me, the best part of the story arch is the overcoming.
Naturally, after you accept that you are responsible for your life, you will know that there are no fairy godmothers with magic wands who will turn pumpkins into golden coaches. If something is going to change in your life, you will have to make it happen.
You will have to take uncomfortable action to conquer your limiting perceptions.
